Architectural Photography: Interiors

Photographing interior spaces.

Interior spaces project and frame our movement through architecture whilst also accommodating for different functions and uses within it. Interior design is now an integral part of complementing the architect’s vision and is used to highlight function and simplify the users experience.

This selection of my architectural photography aims to capture both the design features of interior spaces; materials, furnishings and at the same time covey how those spaces are occupied and utilised by the buildings inhabitants. Projects include offices, educational facilities, public spaces and more.

If you would like to hire London-based architectural photographer Alex Upton to photograph a interior space you or your client have worked on, or would like to purchase images you have seen in this gallery, please don't hesitate to contact Alex.

Located beneath Herzog & de Meuron's ten-storey, brick-clad addition to the Tate Modern - the Blavatnik Building formerly known as the Switch House - are the converted Oil Tanks of the former power station. Perhaps the most impressive piece of internal architecture within the whole building, these echo-filled concrete chambers wonderfully incorporate elements of the original structure. Giant diagonal columns intersect between floor and ceiling framing the visitors movements through the space.
